I work across sustainable development, programme support, knowledge and digital innovation. My work sits somewhere between ideas and implementation. I am interested in the practical questions that emerge when good ideas have to become programmes, systems, decisions and action.

Where I started

My academic background is in Chemistry and Biology. Science taught me to pay attention to evidence, systems and the importance of asking how we know what we think we know.

Over time, my interests expanded beyond the laboratory and classroom into the wider questions of sustainable development: how societies organise themselves, how institutions work, how programmes are implemented, how knowledge moves through organisations, and how we can make better decisions with the information available to us.

What I do

I work across several connected areas, and I am particularly interested in the gap between having ambitious goals and actually implementing them.

My way of working

I like understanding how things fit together. Whether I am working on a programme, organising information, researching a question or building a digital system, I tend to look for the connections between people, processes, information and outcomes.

What I value

Curiosity — being willing to ask questions before jumping to solutions. Clarity — making information and ideas easier for other people to understand and use. Evidence — being careful about what we know, what we assume and what still needs to be investigated. Learning — treating projects and experiences as opportunities to improve how we work. Practicality — ideas matter, but they become useful when they can survive contact with reality.
